Canadian companies.
A Newfoundland focus.
Our initial editorial universe follows the dashboard’s Canadian/NL watchlist. A coverage designation means editorial attention, not endorsement. Company symbols and coverage membership are maintained in our coverage list.
How stories earn priority
Version editorial-v1. These are transparent starting weights, to be tuned against editorial review.
- Material event: up to 32 points. Use the strongest event, rather than adding overlapping tags.
- Coverage company: 18. Personal watchlist: an additional 8 in your feed.
- Geography: NL 14, Atlantic 11, other Canadian project regions 6; these do not stack.
- Freshness: up to 20, halving every 36 hours. Future and invalid dates do not receive a freshness advantage.
- Available evidence: up to 8 for source text and a numerical drill intercept.
- Routine grants, marketing and administrative updates: a 30-point reduction and no material-event bonus.
Priority does not indicate whether the news is positive or negative. Switch to Newest for chronological order. Hover a news row or open a story’s ranking explanation to inspect its reasons.
Drill screening is a separate score
Version drill-v5. We multiply stated grade by reported interval, then compare the result with a commodity-specific calibration. Scores range from 0.5–10 in half-point steps. These are provisional editorial thresholds, not industry cutoffs, metal-equivalent values or measures of economic viability.
| Commodity | 10/10 reference product |
|---|---|
| AU | 500 g/t · m |
| AG | 25,000 g/t · m |
| CU | 150 % · m |
| NI | 100 % · m |
| ZN | 1,000 % · m |
| PB | 600 % · m |
| CO | 30 % · m |
| MO | 30 % · m |
| U3O8 | 20 % · m |
| LI2O | 200 % · m |
Starting at 0.5, each reference-product fraction crossed adds half a point: 0.025%, 0.05%, 0.1%, 0.15%, 0.2%, 0.35%, 0.6%, 1%, 1.6%, 2.5%, 4%, 6.3%, 10%, 14%, 20%, 32%, 50%, 71%, 100%. Issuer-reported metal equivalents (including CuEq and ZnEq) use the corresponding base-metal benchmark and retain their Eq label. We do not calculate equivalents ourselves or independently verify issuer price and recovery assumptions; scores across different equivalent formulas are not directly comparable. Unidentified metals and ambiguous mixed grades remain unscored. A discovery keyword does not increase an intercept score.
True width, hole depth, continuity, recovery, deposit model and economics need separate assessment. The score helps organize reported intervals; it cannot establish a resource or mine value. Geological context should be checked against the source and CIM exploration guidance.
How company briefs are made
Scheduled enrichment selects material announcements from coverage companies and drill-result stories. The OreBrief summary pairs a concise account with our read, a closer look at the evidence, and what would move the story forward. For supported Newsfile releases, it reads the complete release text, including text tables and closing disclosures. Images and linked reports are not reviewed. Other sources use the stored excerpt, and every brief identifies its source scope. It is prepared with AI assistance and links to the original report. Affirmative commentary requires source evidence; questions that cannot be assessed must identify the source limitation. We do not infer intent, accuse issuers of hiding information or make automated compliance findings. Numerical and source-evidence checks run before saving; they do not replace editorial or technical verification. Reports without a brief remain available as source pages and are excluded from search indexing.
Published OreBrief summaries are retained when ordinary RSS records expire. Wider publisher reporting remains attributed to its source. We do not reproduce complete third-party articles or present AI summaries as independently verified reporting.
